The ProLinx PROFIBUS DP Slave to HART Multi-drop Gateway creates a powerful connection between devices on a PROFIBUS DP network and HART field devices. This stand-alone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway provides one PROFIBUS DP Slave configurable DB9F port and 4 configurable HART Multi-drop channels.
The PROFIBUS DP Slave protocol driver supports the PROFIBUS V0 Slave implementation, providing powerful data transfer capability between the ProLinx module and Siemens PLCs or other hosts. User configurable data mapping and DP port operation make the interface an easy to use and powerful data transfer tool.
The HART protocol driver works as a Master on four (HART) or eight channels (HART2 – not available on certain configurations) per interface card, depending on implementation. Each channel is individually configurable.
The PDPS-HART modules are the ideal solution for the many applications where PROFIBUS DP connectivity can be used to integrate HART Multi-drop devices into a system. The PROFIBUS DP Slave gateway is a powerful module designed with Slave support, enabling easy connection to PROFIBUS master devices. In combination with the HART support, the module provides a very powerful interface to the more than two million HART devices which are in use in the industrial marketplace today. Applications for the module are found in most industries, especially the Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Electrical Power and Food Processing.

The ProLinx module contains an internal database that consists of areas for application data, status information, and configuration information.
The internal database is shared between all ports on the module and is used as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one or more devices on another network.
The data area is used to store and retrieve data by the protocol drivers and for data exchange between protocols. The database is used as a source for write commands to remote devices and holds data collected from the remote devices. Commands defined in the configuration file (stored in the configuration data area) control how the data is to be handled in the database.
This area is used to store error codes, counters, and port status information for each port.
This area contains module configuration information such as port configuration, network information, and command configuration. This configuration file is downloaded to, or uploaded from, this area.

The PROFIBUS DP Slave driver gives access to the ProLinx unit's internal database via 244 bytes of Input data and 244 bytes of Output data (maximum 400 bytes total). These Input and Output data blocks are mapped by the user within the ProLinx module's data memory allowing the user maximum flexibility and data transfer with other protocols.

The HART protocol driver works as a Master on four (HART) or eight channels (HART2 not available on certain configurations) per interface card, depending on implementation. Each channel is individually configurable.
The HART Master Protocol exists in 4 channel implementations with HART2 allowing 8 channels. This driver can be configured on an individual channel basis to operate as a HART Master Station and supports all the available HART commands including Universal, Common Practice and Device Specific Commands. Each HART channel is independently configured to interface with the internal database in the module.
The auto-poll mode allows the module to automatically collect data from each HART instrument on the channel and store the data in the module's database without the use of user commands. The module automatically generates HART commands 0, 3, 13, 14 and 15.
